The Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche (CNR) or National Research Council, is an Italian public organization set up to support scientific and technological research. In particular CNR is defined) as a “national research organization, with general scientific competence and with scientific research institutes distributed across Italy, which carries out activities of primary interest for the promotion of science and the progress of the country.
CNR-IRPPS has strong competencies for carrying out studies in social informatics and computing, considering the need of these competencies for defining the common strategies and identifying actions and tools that enable to build an ecosystemic cluster, based on multidisciplinary competences of scientists in Social science, Communication Science, ICT and Social Informatics and computing. CNR IRPPS experiences on methodologies for engaging people and society, in an open and sustainable society comes from the Knowing, SHAPES,Scicafè2.0 and GreenHero projects (MED and FP7), that allowed to build communities engaging stakeholders and people for societal, environmental and knowledge sharing issues, related with a sustainable, ecosystemic development.
